Good watercolour Landscape Entitled
'The Arum at Stoke' by listed Artist E.H. Marten. He was a well known
painter who lived at Harwick Scotland and exhibited at the Royal Academy and
Dudley Gallery from 1886.
The watercolour is clearly painted by
a competent hand and depicts a rural landscape with a country cottage bordered
by trees and a stream in the foreground. The watercolour is signed
E.H. Marten in the bottom right hand corner.
The condition of the watercolour is
excellent with no tears, marks or foxing blemishes to the paper. The
watercolour is mounted with what appears to be the original mercury gilded
mitred slips and the original mercury gilded gilt gesso swept frame which is
also in excellent condition with no damage to the gesso mouldings.
